Woo-woo!!

Hey fellow Rosebud interns!!  We'll see how this post goes, I don't do much w/ the blogging/posting things, so hopefully I can navigate this seemingly easy endeavor!

I felt it would be most appropriate to follow the pattern set before me, I'm a team player and tend to follow what's been done before me :) So I am Lindsay Brown, from Bruce's original home church in Boone, Iowa and this will be my 6th summer going out to the Rez, the 2nd as an intern.  I am GRADUATING in 10 days (only 2 finals left and I'm outta here!!)  So I am leaving the University of Iowa with an Anthropology degree, a minor in Religious Studies, but I have no clue where or whether I will actually use it someday!  I'm an antsy spirit, don't want to settle for the monotonous routine of life, but am still fairly scared to take risks on my own!  So right now I'm praying big to go overseas for a couple of months this fall (specifically Kenya/Uganda) to work in an orphanage, trusting He's got a place for me.

I am so excited for this summer and working w/ you guys because last summer was an amazing experience.  The Lord truly blessed the week and the work that we interns did, and God solidified in my heart the desire to serve and work on a team again.  I am eager for new experiences and new challenges, if you've been there before, you know that your expectations are always blown away by the plans God has instead!  So I'm just excited for new lessons and new growth on the Rez, in us, in the students, in the churches, and in the lives of kids and families and communities.

Greetings!

So here I am, the third one to post! How exhilerating it is! Perhaps I can beat Lauren out with number of exclamation points used in my post!!!! mmmm, maybe not. But I am extremely excited to be interning on the rez this summer and I know we will all be used by God in great ways!

My name is Sarah Finley and I'm 20 years old and I also go to Bethel University. This is my second year at Bethel and I'm an Elementary Education major with an emphasis in English Literature.  I've been going to the reservation (more specifically St. Francis) for three summers and have been there six times total with SSEFC. It excites me to see God working in St Francis and it also excites me to spend time with his children there. This summer I am most excited to form more relationships with community leaders, adults, and kids in a new and meaningful way. I find great beauty in the sunsets on the rez, and can't wait experience them for three whole weeks this summer!

Random facts about myself: I like pigs, I have lots of plants, I'm addicted to tennis, I can't roll my tongue, I used to think I was Mary Poppins and my imaginary friends were Jane and Michael Banks, I don't like feet, I love music, I like to bake stuff, my favorite dance move is the running man (the sprinkler is a close second), Bruce Bentley is my hero

Hey all!

Hi guys!

My name is Lauren Everett, and I'm going to start my post a lot like TJ's because that makes the most sense!!  I'm 20 years old and a Junior at Bethel University near St. Paul, MN.  I'm a science education major and am looking forward to graduating next may!!

I can't even tell you all how excited I am about this summer!  I have been involved with the Rosebud ministry since 2003, so this will be my 4th summer on the reservation. Our group has also taken a number of other trips back to the reservation in St. Francis!!  It has been incredibly exciting to be a part of this ministry and God has put an incredible passion in my heart for his children on the reservation!  It has been amazing through these past few years to watch "our kids" grow up and see what they are learning and doing with their lives!!

There are 3 or 4 things that give me more excitement than anything else.  They are: people in general and the time I get the spend with them, being an RA here at bethel, being involved with the jr. high youth group at SSEFC, and anything that might even possibly have to do with Rosebud!!

Ok I think that that's all from me...for now anyway!  ><>

Ready for another summer of Rosebud!

Hey fellow interns and anyone else reading this blog,

My name is T.J. Lyttle, I'm 22 years old and a sophomore at Iowa State University. This will be my 6th or 7th summer in Rosebud, Im not really sure, I've lost count. Last year I did the internship and really enjoyed it. I loved being able to work with the groups we were bringing up, and also working with the school staff in St. Francis was really rewarding. For the longterm I'd actually like to one day plant a church in Rosebud, but I think thats probably a ways off, but I keep coming back every summer to see how God is changing the Rez for the better. Hope everyone is doing well.

welcome interns

It is great to have you on board this summer. Bruce and I  are excited that you decided to  accept  the internship.  If you would begin by posting a brief bio about yourself that would be good.  You should have recieved an email from me about how to post to the weblog.  Also, we will be reading In The Name of Jesus by Henry Nouwen.   This is one of my favorite books by my favorite authors.  I hope you enjoy.  Welcome!

Idea's Co-Op

Here is a lesson/craft idea from Mark from Albert City EFC:
Here is some basic information that we used to help us teach through the witness bracelets as we made them with the kids.  It isn’t an entire lesson plan, but it could give someone an idea of where to start.

Idea's Co-Op

Here is a few idea's from Matt from the Boone EFC church:

Some Rosebud Thoughts:

  1. We’ve done a kid’s      club for 2 hours each night and then a shorter youth group for a little      over an hour after kid’s club has finished.  This has      accomplished some cool purposes:
    1. Less older kids around to       distract during kid’s club
    2. Something more age appropriate       for the older kids
    3. A place where our kids can be       peers during the week
  1. We always have our congregation      pick individual kids to pray for and make care packages.  Usually we      have one adult prayer partner and a different person be the care package      provider.  Our congregation loves being a part of the trip.  We      also put a prayer card in the bulletin one week before we leave and ask      our congregation to prayer daily for our trip.

  1. We also leave one day early and      travel to Sioux Falls to do a      thorough day of preparation and prayer.  It is a great experience for      our kids even before they jump onto the Rez.

     4. Here is a fact sheet we talk      about and pray over at our first meeting:
